With over 13 years of experience serving the Las Vegas Valley, Maria is a passionate community leader and nonprofit manager dedicated to promoting cultural awareness and strengthening social connection across Southern Nevada. Born in Havana, Cuba, Maria has used a lifetime of experience and service to bridge communities, foster civic engagement, and support the success of newcomers and long-standing residents alike.

Throughout her career, she has held leadership roles in numerous organizations, including President of the Cuban Heritage Foundation, Board Member of the Battle Born Lions Club, and Trustee of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. She has organized culturally significant events, led civic education programs such as citizenship classes, and developed assimilation tools to help immigrants integrate successfully into the community.

In addition to her nonprofit work, she is a successful entrepreneur, owning and managing Avant-Garde Design Center and Boulevard Furniture Outlet since 2016. Her strong interpersonal skills and deep commitment to cultural preservation have allowed her to build impactful relationships and lasting community initiatives.

Maria’s educational background includes studies in Interior Design Technology at the International Fine Arts College, as well as Political Science and Cultural Anthropology at Citrus College. In 2015, she was recognized as one of ten recipients of the Latin Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Series Award — a testament to her influence and service in the Hispanic community.

Through advocacy, leadership, and education, Maria continues to serve as a vital force in making Las Vegas a more vibrant, informed, and united place to live.
